Kristi Lewis joined Nashville General Hospital in June of 2024 and brings more than 22 years of experience in the healthcare industry.  She has held several positions with emphasis in compliance, data privacy, litigation, employment, contract negotiation, drafting, and management, insurance coverage and implementation and management, cyber security management, and auditing and monitoring. 

 Kristi has worked in both the private and public sectors throughout her career.  In the private sector, she served as the Vice President of Corporate Compliance at Covenant Physician Partners, Inc., the Associate Counsel of Litigation and Employment at Specialty Care, Inc., and as Senior Counsel and Privacy Officer at Tivity Health (formerly known as Healthways, Inc.)  As a public servant, she was the Special Counsel to the Commissioner and Privacy Officer at the Tennessee Department of Children’s services. She was also the Assistant General Counsel, litigating attorney for both the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services and the Tennessee Department of Health.

As an adjunct professor, Kristi taught several courses at Meharry Medical College’s Master of Public Health Program and Argosy University’s undergraduate program. She has also taught Business Law at the University of Phoenix and Tennessee State University. 

Ms. Lewis has several publications in both the compliance and legal arenas.  She most recently published an article regarding mergers and acquisitions in Compliance Today (July 2024); she co-authored “An Engaging Compliance Program on a Budget:  It is Possible” for Compliance Today (September of 2023), and she was the cover feature of Compliance Today’s December 2022 issue.  Ms. Lewis has also published articles pertaining to the HIPAA regulations changes (June 2013), employment grievance hearings in the administrative law process (October 2007), and child absue indications in the administrative law process (February 2007) in the Nashville Bar Journal.  Kristi has also conducted several presentations on HIPAA and compliance in general.  Her most recent compliance presentation was at the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) 27th Annual Compliance Institute. 

Kristi earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Memphis and is licensed to practice in the state of Tennessee.
