Hal McCard

Hal brings two decades of senior legal leadership in the healthcare sector, having served as Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel to private, publicly traded, and tax-exempt organizations. He recently served as Counsel to the law firm of Spencer Fane, LLP. He is the former Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Quorum Health Corporation and American Addiction Centers, where he built the companies’ legal infrastructure, advised the Board of Directors and executive leadership, and oversaw corporate governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, litigation, and mergers and acquisitions. 

He also served as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Community Health Systems, Inc., directing a team of more than 20 in-house attorneys. He pairs deep healthcare regulatory expertise — including Stark, Anti-Kickback, and False Claims Act compliance and matters before the U.S. Department of Justice, the Office of Inspector General, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services — with legal operations, enterprise risk management and board advisory skills central to the Chief Legal Officer role. 

McCard holds a Juris Doctor from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law and an A.B. from Princeton University and is an elected Fellow of the American Health Law Association and an AHLA Certified Mediator/Arbitrator.
