Nashville General Hospital Names Dr. Veronica Elders Chief Executive Officer

The following statement was issued by Christy Smith, Chair of the Nashville General Hospital Authority Board.

On behalf of the Hospital Authority Board, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Veronica Elders as Chief Executive Officer of Nashville General Hospital.

Dr. Elders' appointment follows a comprehensive national search led by AMN Healthcare's executive search division, which attracted an accomplished and diverse pool of healthcare leaders from across the country. Following a rigorous evaluation process, the Board unanimously concluded that Dr. Elders is uniquely qualified to lead Nashville General and advance its mission as Nashville's only public hospital.

Since assuming the role of Interim CEO, Dr. Elders has provided steady, transparent leadership during a pivotal time for the organization. She has strengthened operational performance, fostered collaboration across the health system, and maintained a relentless focus on delivering high-quality care to the patients and communities we serve. Throughout the search process, Dr. Elders distinguished herself through her deep understanding of the organization's mission and proven ability to lead through change. Just as importantly, she has earned the confidence of employees, physicians, community partners, elected officials, and stakeholders across Nashville.

For more than 136 years, Nashville General has played an essential role in advancing the health of our community. The Board is confident that under Dr. Elders' leadership, the organization is well positioned to build on that legacy, strengthen access to care, invest in its workforce, and continue delivering exceptional outcomes for the patients who rely on us every day.
