With over 25 years of clinical research experience, Susan (Susie) T. Owenby, RN, CCRP, is a seasoned leader in advancing clinical research operations. As the current Director of Research at Nashville General Hospital, Owenby brings a wealth of expertise in managing complex research portfolios across multiple specialties, including oncology, cardiology, and gastrointestinal trials.
Her career highlights include overseeing 11 clinical research sites with 14 investigators and a team of 10 clinical and regulatory staff at Covenant Health Care System, managing a $750,000 operating budget, and driving $300,000 in annual research revenue. At the Center for Biomedical Research, she led a diverse portfolio of 20-35 oncology clinical trials, generating $350,000 in revenue, while also supporting cardiovascular, neurology, and pulmonary hypertension studies.
Susie Owenby has hands-on experience with leading commercial Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) and has served as a liaison for Covenant Health System IRB. She has spearheaded significant projects such as the Proton Registry Clinical Trial at Provision Proton Therapy Center, enrolling over 200 patients annually.
A Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) and a member of the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) since 2010, Dr. Owenby is dedicated to the highest standards of clinical research.
