Nashville, TN, May 1, 2025 – Nashville General Hospital (NGH) has once again earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for Spring 2025, recognizing the hospital’s continued excellence in protecting patients from preventable harm and delivering safe, high-quality care.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national nonprofit watchdog that assigns “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grades to general hospitals across the country. Grades are based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries, infections, and the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

“This second consecutive ‘A’ grade affirms what we already know—our team is committed to putting patients first every single day,” said Dr. Veronica Elders, NGH interim Chief Executive Officer. “Earning another top score from Leapfrog reflects the daily work of our dedicated providers and staff who strive to make safety and quality the foundation of every patient interaction.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries—issues that claim over 500 lives every day in the U.S. The program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Grades are updated twice each year, in the spring and fall.

“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade reflects enormous dedication to patient safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I extend my congratulations to Nashville General Hospital, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first.”
